Sony

This is Sony’s new hard disk based video camera, doing away with fiddly tapes or mini-DVDs for ever. Unlike competing models, the SR100 has a Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound recording mode, capturing better audio than ever before with a handheld unit. The 30Gb hard drive stores 7 hours of DVD quality video, and is equipped with advanced features allowing the hard drive to safely park the heads if dropped, protecting the hard drive from impact. It also uses buffered memory to record video should the camera be shaken too hard while recording, safely writing data to the hard drive when the shaking has stopped. It takes 3 megapixel photos through the Carl Zeiss lens too, so if you’ve forgotten the digital camera but have this unit to hand, you’ll be much happier using it than your camera phone!
