Qantas removes Dell batteries

Australian Airline Qantas is reported to have taken the decision to ask all passengers with a Dell notebook computer to remove the battery from the notebook and not to use it with battery power in flights, even if their notebook is not one with a known affected battery. First and business class users will still be able to use their Dell if they have a power adapter that works with the plane’s inflight system. No other brands of notebook computer have been targeted as yet, although now that Apple have initiated a worldwide recall, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple and other brands of computer will also be required to have their batteries removed before being allowed on planes
