Corel’s new photo sharing tool: Snapfire

Corel Corporation, creators of Corel Draw, have announced Corel Snapfire, a free download from www.snapfire.com that provides all the tools users need to easily organise, enhance and share digital photos and video clips.

Corel claims it is easier to use and learn than comparable products, and is the first free photo software to make a wide range of popular photo and video sharing and organising capabilities readily accessible to users of all levels.

The software is in ”special public preview” mode, meaning it is still beta test software, as they are hoping web users who like using the software give them the invaluable feedback consumers provide when testing today’s Intenet connected beta products. You’ll be able to submit you feedback through a link on the Snapfire website or via the Snapfire Message Center.

“Snapfire Shows” allow you to create  entertaining and customised slideshows designed to impress friends and family, bringing to life photos and videos in slideshows that include your own music selections as well as add cool transitions and unique motion effects that zoom in and across the photos and video clips.

You can also easily create visually stunning photo projects simply by dropping photos into professionally-designed templates. Even novice users can create professional-quality photo albums, calendars, collages, greeting cards and slideshows very easily within only minutes. There’s also a ‘SnapFire Plus’ paid version which promises to do even more.

Will it be a real threat to Google’s Picasa photo management software http://picasa.google.com, Yahoo’s Flickr www.flickr.com or Apple’s iPhoto? Only time will tell but in the meantime you can download it free and see what you think for yourself.

  1. Yvette Purches says:

I updated my snapfire plus software from the free update to media one link and the application hangs when attempting to open and maintain photo’s, please advise. I have submitted the error reports each time I have had to end the session manually.
    Thank you for your time.
