Beware the MySpace phishing attack

Oct 14th, 2006 | By Staff Writers | Category: Internet

Criminals are using the MySpace brand name in emails to hundreds of thousands of computer users in an attempt to get them to reveal their credit card details, according to a report in SC magazine.

The fake emails try to entice recipients to purchase online music from a sham online music store.

I haven’t seen the email myself, but if you have, please post it as a comment.

My general advice is to avoid visiting web sites from links in unsolicited emails. It’s very dangerous, and sometimes the criminals create very real-looking fake emails and web sites in order to convince you that it’s a legitimate web site.
