Wii Love The Queen

Giving new meaning to the term “the Royal Wii“, it seems the Queen of England has developed a fondness for Prince William’s new Nintendo Wii system. It makes me happy that England’s monarchy is revealing an unexpected technological savvy. Every country needs leaders and role models who promote technology and science as well as the arts, and what better way to do so than to show technology can be both fun and useful?
From the Royal Christmas Day address being delivered via YouTube to a willingness to try new things shown by playing with the Wii, the Queen is demonstrating to the her countrymen that technology is nothing to fear. That can only lead to good things, as technology is beginning to play a key role in everything from election decisions and results to how we receive and digest our news and run our businesses.
How did the Queen start playing the Wii? She apparently saw Prince William playing a game one day, thought it looked like a blast and begged to join in. The Queen has been playing ever since. What was the game that got her hooked? Ten pin bowling. No stranger to gadgets, the Queen has taken to the Wii in the same easy manner she adopted the iPod, cell phones, email and Blackberry. I must admit, I’m wondering what her Mii looks like, aren’t you?
