Dojo Monkey crosses platforms

A show based out of Queensland called Dojo Monkey has become the first Australian show to go completely cross platform. The animated show is based on a character named Dojo Money. Dojo Monkey got his start as the ninja monkey in a video game, but the creator immediately saw the potential for a show and the ability to make that work on multiple platforms.
The cartoon works on mobile phones, television and the internet. According to Moket’s managing director, Dale Rankine:
“We’ve developed a trailer that’s one minute and 15 seconds (for the overseas TV network). We made it a bit longer than a mobile TV show so that we could show the idea for TV, but not so long that you couldn’t see how it could turn into a ‘mobisode’ as well,” he said. “We’ve also got the Flash Lite mobile phone game of Dojo Monkey and a mobile media player, which is a proof of concept application that streams Flash-animated video to your handset within a completely branded animated experience.”
Some people think that Moket’s gaming background might make it hard to turn this cartoon short into a full length television series. Rankine firmly states that he sees the gaming background as an advantage to making the cross platform show a reality. The show will be available on mobile phones in either Flash Lite or as a video file, online as Flash or as a video file and on television. There is no set roll out date yet. You can read more about the project on the Dojo Monkey site.
