Do you lack capital? WebEquity wants to help

Do you lack capital WebEquity wants to help Any internet entrepreneur looking for start-up capital anywhere in Australia knows how sparse it really is.  This combined with a lack of access to people with the specialist skills required, leaves little hope to bringing your dream alive.  WebEquity is a new web-community that aims to change that reality.

According to the company, it provides access to internet business development specialists such as web developers, designers, marketers, and more who are willing to work on an equity or revenue share basis rather than cash payment.  This provides a perfect opportunity for entrepreneurs who wouldn’t otherwise have the capital to proceed and make their idea a reality.

They’ve created a web-based community that brings together the talent and a person with an idea that can work as one to create something both parties can enjoy the success of.  People with niche skill sets have an opportunity to trade their generosity in exchange for equity in the entity they help create.

Another aspect of the community is it gives emerging designers and web developers the opportunity to display their work in a live, web-based "portfolio" of sorts.  More inexperienced designers that might not otherwise have such an opportunity will benefit more than others in my opinion.  More experienced designers and developers, while not likely, might just take your idea and run with it on their own.

That raises another concern; as ideas are spread around the community for anyone to see, there would almost have to be a hefty amount of idea theft.  Designers and developers might have the skill-set to develop anything, but not the perfect idea to run with.  One browse through the available projects could yield that idea rather quickly.  On the other side of the spectrum, it may just provide the perfect place for people that are limited on time and don’t mind the lingering idea of someone stealing your dream.
