Samsung Electronics Australia has introduce its 450 series Plasma television that fully supports 3-D content for home entertainment. After a long wait, it was finally introduced to the Australian market in June 2008, ready to deliver upcoming 3-D content from the likes of major film studios such as Pixar and Dreamworks, in addition to game studios.
Even more impressive, is the fact that the new plasma will add a 3-D touch to your existing 2-D DVDs using a technology from Perth-based DDD that’s able to analyze the DVD footage in real time and add a 3-D effect for a ground-breaking home viewing experience. While we’re on the subject of "firsts" in the Plasma television industry, it’s also worth mentioning that the Samsung 450 series is the first and only Plasma on the Australian market that features real 100Hz, which increases the frame rate by inserting an intelligently calculated “middle frame” to deliver smoother, more realistic display of motion.
According to the company, the 450 series Plasma features state-of-the-art technology to compliment its 3-D capabilities whilst remaining at an affordable price for families. The unit features 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio and "Filterbright" technology, which helps to ensure the clearest picture in a wide range of lighting situations. Samsung’s DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image Engine Plus) is also featured; providing optimal picture quality and the ultimate in natural looking image reproduction. Speaking on the topic, Nic Beames, Director of Content at DDD, had this to say;
“3-D is here to stay, with Hollywood studios producing hugely successful 3-D movies for cinema audiences. Right now, many of the most popular PC games can be experienced in 3-D, on Samsung’s 450 series Plasma TVs using DDD’s TriDef® 3-D Experience software and available 3-D glasses. We’re excited to play a key role in Samsung’s commitment to 3-D in the home.”
The 450 series Plasma is available in 42” and 50” models and retails for $1899 and $2529 respectively.
