qantas.jpgTravelers looking forward to live internet service while flying on Qantas’ A380 flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles are in for a disappointment. Qantas has decided to delay internet access.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, travelers will be able to use cached internet content along with accessing web-based email and chat services.

The fact that Qantas has delayed live internet access on its A380 flight have many people wondering why its dragging its feet? Some are speculating that it might have to do with the recent controversy surrounding American Airlines in the US. This past month American Airline started offering its passengers in-flight broadband access on it Boeing 767-200 planes all for the price of US $12.60.

Live internet access is the perfect solution for travelers needing to access the net while in flight. Apparently, some of the passengers were logging onto “questionable” sites passengers and attendants complained and the US Association of Professional Flight Attendants gave American Airlines a call. It instructed them to install filtering software so that inappropriate sites would be blocked. It’s possible that Qantas has decided to delay full internet access until it has filtering software in place.

Qantas travelers who aren’t interested in limited internet access there are still many ways you can be entertained during travel.Qantas offers a variety of in-flight entertainment including; 100 movies, 500 television show episodes, 1000 audio CDs, 20 radio channels and 80 games.

Qantas will be offering be offering full internet service in early 2009 at this time Qantas hasn’t stated what the pricing will be. Qantas has ordered 20 A380 planes from Airbus.
