US TV recording box ‘TiVo’ brings web video to TVs
In the US, a box called the TiVo lets you record TV shows direct to the TiVo’s hard drive, and select the shows you want from an EPG, or electronic program guide. Foxtel has one of these, and a TiVo like box, but otherwise the main TV stations in Australia still don’t support a public EPG. Is that why there are no TiVo’s in Australia?

The world’s fastest DVD burner is here, but who cares?
Sure, you can burn a DVD at 20x speeds now, mere seconds faster than with the three month old 18x DVD burner. Still, fast burns can mean discs that could end up as coffee coasters, so while this advance is nice, it’s hardly earth-shattering.

Mission Impossible III gets record sales on HD discs
Sales of Blu-ray and HD DVD versions of Tom Cruise’s latest hit, Mission Impossible: III, have broken all previous records, while DVD sales are very, very healthy too. And this is all despite Tom Cruise’s crazy antics, his very personal love life and troubles with movie studios. Have moviegoers forgiven him? Maybe not at the box office, but on DVD and next-gen discs, he’s doing fine.

Final version of Vista already available on pirate sites!
Internet pirates don’t waste any time, if the latest Vista news is any indication. The final ‘gold’ release of Vista has already been spotten on pirate sites across the web. But it’s fools gold, with the risks of pirate software, especially an operating system, far too dangerous to contemplate.
