Is Windows Vista virus proof?

Microsoft Windows Chief Jim Allchin let his seven year old son run Vista without any anti-virus software and claimed he suffered no infections. The news has spread across the globe, with some thinking Allchin is crazy. But I’ve run XP without anti-virus for months earlier this year, and I didn’t get infected. Why did I do it, and why no infections?
