Internet privacy on ACA
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006Last night I contributed to a story on Channel 9’s ‘A Current Affair’. It was about how your privacy can be violated on the Internet, and I gave some information on how and why you should protect your privacy online, just as you (should) guard it in the real world. Unfortunately ACA does not post a transcript or a video link of every story they run, but there is a video link of a story I contributed to on ACA a few weeks ago on ‘Email Addiction’. View it at:

Boeing cuts inflight broadband
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006Boeing has decided to stop offering their inflight broadband Internet service called ‘Connexion’. Delivered via satellite to airlines that signed up to the service, it apparently cost over US $1b to create, was costing millions to run each year, but was not attracting enough customers. Other companies are planning to offer inflight broadband Internet, but aren’t ready to start yet. Apparently the decision had nothing to do with the recent terrorist scare in the UK which caused laptop computers (other gadgets, liquids and virtually everything else) to be banned from the cabin of certain aircraft travelling on routes to the US around the world.
Free Vista upgrades for PC buyers?
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006Reports online indicate that Microsoft is again talking about giving consumers free upgrades or heavily discounted vouchers for the upgrade version of Windows Vista over the Christmas holiday period. It’s said that it’s being done to keep PC manufacturers happy, as it will help those all important holiday sales. The vouchers are a smart idea, although predictable, but the easiest way to buy Vista will be pre-loaded onto a new machine.
