Analyst: iPhone will eventually fall in price to $75

Initial sales of the iPhone will be modest, but sales will accelerate once the the price of the iPhone starts to hit the “sweet spot of the mobile phone market”, according to analyst Charles Wolf of Needham & Co in a note to investors.

The electric car is back!

At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, GM are showing off a concept car called the Chevrolet Volt. It’s the successor to the EV-1, last seen in the movie ‘Who Killed the Electric Car’. So, Hooray! An electric car from a big manufacturer is coming back. But one caveat - it’s still a hybrid, and it’s not available until ‘the end of the decade’.

Can it really be true? A major car company, the one that ‘killed’ the electric car, is finally bringing one back. GM’s website has an interesting press release with all the details, but no doubt we’ll be reading much more about their new car in the days ahead as the Detroit Auto Show kicks off next week.

Blu-ray and HD DVD ‘truce’ won’t end format war - yet

The launch of a unified Blu-ray/HD DVD drive from LG, and new ‘dual format’ discs called ‘Total HD’ from Warner Bros are certainly steps in the right direction, but it won’t be until much later in 2007 that consumers will truly see any benefit. Thank goodness these developments have happened, as they’ll help to end the format war madness. But why did we ever have to go through this ridiculous pain at all?
